Summer/Fall 2023: Orchard JamBoree
Join us as we support Genesee Land Trust in celebrating the protection of 200 acres of land at G and S Orchards! This property will forevermore be used as farmland, providing food to sustain our community. More details can be found here. Genesee Land Trust preserves and protects natural lands and waterways that enhance the quality of life in the Greater Rochester region—providing wildlife habitat, locally grown food, and connections to nature—for everyone.

Spring 2023: RCSD Readathon
We sponsored reading minutes for several students at Rochester City School District Charles Carroll School #46. The students selected live in our neighborhood or are in class with our son, Emerick. As a family we pledged to raise $500 and read for 500 minutes! We love promoting literacy and collecting funds that will be used to sponsor festivals and bring a deeper sense of community to the school.

Winter 2023: Trans Rights Readathon
We joined the call to action put forth by Sim Kern to read books by trans authors and donate to trans causes from March 20 to 27. We donated to the NY Transgender Advocacy Group, Point of Pride, and we are stocking our Little Free Library with extra books featuring trans people and authors, including books for young kids, teens, and adults.

Fall 2022: Leadership Rochester
One of our core values is passion. We are big believers in life-long learning! This quarter (and most of next year) we are investing time and money so Josh can participate in a ten month civic leadership program. Leadership Rochester inspires, connects, and educates a vibrant, diverse network of individuals who will provide leadership to transform and strengthen our Greater Rochester Region. Stay tuned to learn how you can help us celebrate Josh’s graduation in the summer of 2023!

Summer 2022: Human Rights for All
Stamp Paints will always stand with historically excluded and marginalized people, especially in the support of human rights. This quarter we focused our philanthropic efforts on healthcare for women, trans, and non-binary people. We donated to Planned Parenthood and the Transgender Law Center. Please visit our Little Free Library in North Winton Village year round to find LGBTQ+ supportive books for kids and adults.

Spring 2022: Support for Ukraine
We donated to several organizations and programs aiding the people of Ukraine: ROC Maiden, Ukrainian Cultural Center of Rochester, Global Giving - Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund, Save the Children - Ukraine, US Ukraine Foundation, and Afya Foundation - Operation Ukraine Airlift.
We also made special bookmarks and purchased coloring books that supported the people of Ukraine and placed them in our Little Free Library.

Winter 2022: Rochester Education
We supported Action for Education Equity in partnership with Laughing Gull Chocolates. We will take action to help students in Rochester thrive by raising critically needed funds for the Rochester City School District (RCSD) and by bringing awareness to the systemic inequities that are a barrier to student success. The fiduciary for these efforts is Rochester Education Foundation.

Summer 2021: Read in Color
This summer we are doubling down on our promise to celebrate diversity through our Little Free Library and the Read in Color initiative. We are adding books featuring characters, authors, and/or illustrators of color each week. The library will also be stocked with crayons and coloring books made by local artists of color: Sweet Treats A-Z by Rachel Wyche and I’d Rather Color Rochester by Shawn Dunwoody. We are proud to share this project as part of Global Days of Service for University of Rochester. Alumni around the world will donate books that provide perspectives on racism and social justice; celebrate BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized voices; and incorporate experiences from all identities for all readers. If you want to send books to our library from afar, visit our wish list.

Spring 2021: Paint Makeover
We are donating time and supplies for our crew to spend a week this spring updating the building that formerly housed the Monroe YMCA. The space is now being used by the Center for Youth. The Center’s mission is to partner with youth to realize their full potential, by creating opportunities, removing barriers and promoting social justice. All youth deserve to grow and thrive in an equitable, beloved - and beautiful - community!

Winter 2021: Historic Preservation
Josh will take a SUNY Geneseo course to learn the best methods to repair and restore historic wood windows. He will network and learn with others who value the role that preservation has in the revitalization of rural communities and how preservation gives voice to often overlooked historic contexts (Black, Indigienous, LGBTQ+, and more). The course is held at the Genesee Country Village & Museum in partnership with The Landmark Society of Western New York & Perry Main Street Association.

Fall 2020: Little Free Library
We sponsored the creation of a Little Free Library in North Winton Village. The focus is children’s books. The library was designed and constructed by Enchanted Mountain Construction. The painting and finishing design touches were done by Stamp Paints and Sara Hickman-Himes. Our grand opening on February 14 was planned by Jennifer G. Caton Events. We collected 300 books and raised $450 to support both our library and the global organization.

Summer 2020: The Avenue
The Avenue Blackbox Theatre is an inclusive, fully accessible, queer space where social justice and art disciplines converge to create dynamic stage productions, installations and live art-making events. Stamp Paints made a donation toward building repairs and the youth Fellows program. AVENUE Fellows is an apprenticeship for young adults interested in training for theatre production jobs and holding it down. They have been on the front lines of the BLM movement in Rochester.

Spring 2020: Covid-19 Support
Foodlink’s mission is to leverage the power of food to end hunger and build healthier communities. They are the hub of the emergency food system in the Finger Lakes and Genesee Valley regions. Their operations serve those most affected by Covid-19. Stamp Paints offered complimentary color consultations and DIY tips to anyone who donated money or time to Foodlink during the apex of the crisis. We raised over $2,000, which means over 6,000 kids will get meals!

Winter 2020: Connection Event
We supported Parenting Village for two quarters in honor of our son, Emerick. They foster the health and well-being of children and families in the Rochester area by offering support and connection for all. Our goal is to help them as they envision an inclusive, mutually supportive community in which all families thrive. We hosted a connection event to meet other families and share unique stories! We welcome you to read more about our personal path to parenthood here.
